COVID 19-Update March 30-All branch lobby locations closed until further notice

In order to protect the safety and well-being of our employees and members and help reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus, all branch lobby locations will be closed until further notice. We will have limited services available during this time period.

The following services will be available Monday-Friday: 9 am to 4 pm and Saturday: 9 am to 12 pm

  • The drive-thru in our Chambersburg Branch
  • The night deposit drop at our Greencastle and Chambersburg Branches
  • The ATM at our Hanover Branch for Deposits and Withdrawals
  • We also have Member Service Representatives available at all our branch locations available to take your phone calls

We highly encourage you to conduct your banking transactions using our electronic services which are available 24/7:

As a precautionary measure to help protect the safety and well-being of our employees and members and help reduce the spread of COVID-19, our branch lobbies will remain closed until Monday, April 6. During this time, we will continue to offer limited services during these hours:

  • Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
  • Saturday 9:00 am -12:00 pm

  • Chambersburg Branch – Drive-up window; telephone; shared branch transactions through drive-up window; night depository transactions processed throughout the business day; and loan settlements by appointment only.

Member Communication

We’re Here for You!!

Things are changing day by day for everyone and this can be a very scary time for most. 1st Ed wants to make sure you know we’re here for you. We stay committed to helping you with your financial needs and understand you may have questions about how we are operating and what we are doing during this time to remain available for you. Here are some answers that will hopefully provide you, our members, with some peace of mind.

Are we closed because of the statewide COVID-19 mitigation?

No, as of today, we remain open for business and are operating as we have been since March 17.

Are your branches fully operational?

Our branch lobbies are not open to the public, however, we are open to serve you in these ways at all of our locations:

  • Chambersburg Branch– Drive-up window; telephone; night depository transactions processed throughout the business day; and loan settlements by appointment only.
  • Greencastle Branch– Telephone; night depository transactions processed throughout the business day; and loan settlements by appointment only.
  • Hanover Branch– ATM; telephone; and loan settlements by appointment only.

We are limiting our branch lobby traffic to help reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus in order to protect our members and employees.

How can I access my money and accounts?

Members can access their accounts 24/7 from online, mobile, and audio banking. Members also have access to over 32,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide through our ATM network. To find the closest surcharge-free ATM, visit 1edcu.org/services/atm-locator.

What if I am struggling to make my loan payment, what should I do?

We understand that many of our members may face financial hardships as a result of the current situation. We are here for you and want to help in every way we can. If you are facing financial hardship as a result of the Coronavirus, please contact us at 717-264-6506 or by email at AskUs@1edcu.org.

We also offer a Skip-a-Pay* program that allows our members to skip up to two of their monthly payments within a 12-month period on auto, motorcycle, RV, and personal loans in good standing. During this time, Skip-a-Pay fees will be waived for affected members. Visit 1edcu.org/skip-a-pay for more information.

Your Money is Safe with Us!

In these uncertain times, please be assured your money on deposit at 1st Ed Credit Union is federally insured by the NCUA. Your money continues to be safe and secure while on deposit at 1st Ed. During this time, you will continue to have access to your accounts through your debit and credit cards, online and mobile banking, our surcharge-free ATM network, and our Chambersburg Branch drive-thru.

Because 1st Ed is federally insured, all deposits are protected by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund. Each individual depositor’s (member’s) money is insured up to at least $250,000. We are also reminding members to beware of scams that are related to the Coronavirus. People are being targeted by scammers by way of emails that are trying to trick people into giving out sensitive information or to donate money to charities that don’t exist. If you’re looking for more information on COVID-19, be sure to use trustworthy sources that you know are legitimate, government websites such as cdc.gov or who.int. President’s Message

The spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has all our attention. I want to let you know 1st Ed Credit Union is doing everything possible to keep our employees and you, our members, safe while delivering the best member experience possible.

At this time, there has been a small number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Pennsylvania. As a financial institution, we are closely monitoring the situation and taking guidance from our state and federal regulators as well as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

There are steps that everyone can take in order to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus which can be found on the CDC website at www.cdc.gov/flu/prevent/index.html.

What is 1st Ed doing?

We have proactively taken measures to prevent the possible spread of the virus:

  • Placing hand sanitizer in the lobby of our branches
  • Requesting symptomatic staff to stay home
  • Routinely wiping and disinfecting branches including ATM machines
