Fannett-Metal High School juniors and seniors participated in a Financial Reality Fair on April 27, 2018. Nearly 60 students chose careers and researched their entry-level starting salaries in order to participate in this interactive budgeting workshop hosted by 1st Ed Credit Union. School employees and community members volunteered to assist the students at each booth where they needed to choose their monthly expenses for housing, entertainment, and more. When students completed their budget worksheets they met with a credit union financial counselor to go over their budget and determine if they needed to choose a less expensive lifestyle, get a part-time job, invest extra money back into themselves or repay debt. The students were very happy to get this experience with graduation only a few weeks away!
