On March 27, 2018; 70 seniors from McConnellsburg High School participated in a Financial Reality Fair hosted by 1st Ed Credit Union. Volunteers from the community and school helped the students go through the simulation of what choices they will have to make after they graduate such as housing, food, and cell phone plans. Once the students visited each monthly expense table, they met with credit union volunteers to finalize their budgets and discuss what they should do with extra money at the end of the month or how to reduce spending to stay within their budget. Students felt the fair helped them get an idea of what choices they’ll need to make after they graduate high school or college and realize that they may need to live with their parents for a few years before they can afford to live on their own.
