1st Ed Credit Union will hold its Annual Meeting this year on Monday, April 20. Registration will begin at 6:30pm, and the meeting will take place from 7 -8-pm.
The meeting will be held in Chambersburg at the Coyle Free Library. The library is located at 102 N Main St, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Light refreshments will be served, and attendees can enter to win exciting door prizes (including a TV!). Join us to catch up on what’s been happening at the credit union.

Vote for 1st Ed’s Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee!
All primary members who are 18 years of age or older are eligible to vote at any 1st Ed branch location beginning Monday, April 13 at 9 AM until Saturday, April 18 at 12 PM. Only one vote per primary member is permitted, and you must be present in person to vote. This year, there are three Board of Directors’ candidates for two board positions and two Supervisory Committee candidates for two positions. Their biographical data is available below, and will also be available in all 1st Ed branch locations beginning April 13.
Board of Directors candidates:
Brian Campbell (incumbent)
Brian is originally from Western Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Laurel High School in New Castle, PA. Following his high school graduation, he attended Penn State University and graduated in 1981. Before graduation from Penn State, he moved to Adams County and worked on a dairy farm during breaks and as a student teacher. He loved the area so much that he made it his home and began working at New Oxford High School in July 1981.
He retired from Conewago Valley School District in June 2016 after 35 years as an Agricultural Science and Mechanics teacher. He was also the FFA Advisor. In his retirement, he spends his time volunteering and working with various mission groups to help those in need with basic home repairs and other jobs as needed.
He and his wife Pat have two sons, Brandon and Brad, and six grandchildren. They love spending time with them and traveling to sporting events throughout the year.
He currently serves as the property elder for Gettysburg Presbyterian Church, treasurer for the Pennsylvania Association of Agriculture Educators, is a member of the Hamilton Township Finance Committee, and is a board member of the Cherry Tree HOA in Hanover.
He looks forward to continuing to serve the 1st Ed community.
Robin Harmon (incumbent)
Robin Harmon is a Franklin County native and a graduate of Chambersburg Area School District. After high school she attended Rutgers University and earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. She worked at Lucent Technologies in Massachusetts for 4 years and during that time earned her M.B.A. from Northeastern University. After studying Industrial Engineering at a Master’s level at Penn State University, she returned to Chambersburg to join her family’s business. The business, a furniture store, was sold and she then worked at Nitterhouse Masonry Products, Manitowoc, the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce and the PA CareerLink® Franklin County. In December of 2021 she accepted the position of the Director of Procurement for Franklin County Government.
Additionally, Robin is a volunteer member in numerous organizations including serving as the Chair for the Board of Directors of the United Way of Franklin County, as a member of the advisory board for Penn State Mont Alto, a member of the Summit Endowment Committee, and a member of the Board of Directors of Letterkenny Industrial Development Authority and 1st Ed Credit Union.
Jennifer Hawbecker
Jennifer has over 25 years of experience working with children and families in the Franklin County area. She currently works as the Early Intervention Program Specialist for the Franklin/Fulton MH/IDD/EI program. Jennifer is involved as a volunteer with many early childhood education organizations, such as President of the Board of Directors for First Start Partnerships for Children and Families, planning committee member for the United Way of Franklin County’s Learn and Play Day, and Occupational Advisory Committee member for the Early Childhood Education program at the Franklin County Career and Technology Center. Jennifer is an active Franklin County community member and is a Franklin County Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA).
Jennifer and her husband live in Chambersburg and have two daughters, a son-in-law and a granddaughter. She enjoys biking, kayaking and spending time outside in the garden.
Jennifer is excited about the possibility of working with the 1st Ed Credit Union Board.
Supervisory Committee candidate:
Carolyn Faith (incumbent)
Carolyn inherited her commitment to serve the credit union from family members who believed strongly in the success of the credit union and always putting members first. She presently serves as Chairperson of the Supervisory Committee of 1st Ed Credit Union and has served on the committee for several years working with board members, administrative staff and the independent accounting firm Smith Elliott Kearns & Company, LLC.
Carolyn graduated from Elizabethtown College with a degree in Early Childhood Education and earned her master’s degree from Shippensburg University in Elementary Education. She is retired from the Chambersburg Area School District where she was a second-grade teacher at Fayetteville Elementary School.
She resides in Chambersburg with her husband and feels fortunate to experience a quality life with family and friends.
She holds a strong belief that being a member of the credit union for over 50 years has been a wise choice. She feels honored to continue to serve as part of the Supervisory Committee and to recommend the many services the credit union provides to its members.
Thomas Hoffman (incumbent)
Born and raised in Waynesboro, Thomas Hoffman has worked for the Waynesboro Area School District for the past twenty-six years and currently serves as their Director of Human Resources and Head Coach for the Boys’ Basketball Team. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Millersville University and attended Mount St. Mary’s to obtain his Business Education Teacher Certification and his Master of Teaching.
He has served in the past and continues to dedicate his time to various churches, athletic organizations, and educational and workforce development boards and committees. Some of the organizations he has committed to include the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, CrossWalk Church, Waynesboro Youth League, Waynesboro Area Business, Education, and Community (WABEC) Foundation, Waynesboro Basketball Association, Community Education Coalition, the Waynesboro Area YMCA, and the Penn State Mont Alto Physical Therapy Advisory Board. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennifer, and three children, playing sports, watching movies and reading as time allows.
Thomas has been a member of 1st Ed Credit Union for the past 25 years and joined through the recommendation of his co-workers to take advantage of the great rates and services that catered to local educators. Having served for the past two terms as a member of the Supervisory Committee, he hopes to continue to add value to the mission of 1st Ed over the next few years.
